Royal Canin Hosts Free ‘Tackling Obesity’ Webinars
Feline and canine obesity is on the rise and can result in serious medical conditions, from diabetes and heart disease to respiratory distress and high blood pressure. With that in mind, Royal Canin is hosting two ‘Tackling Obesity’ webinars on Wednesday 27 November, at 8.30pm and Wednesday 4 December, also at 8.30pm.
Speaking will be Alex German MRCVS and Shelley Holden VN, both from the University of Liverpool’s Weight Management Clinic. On 27 November, Alex will focus on ‘Tackling the Pet’, and will emphasise the need to tailor weight loss programmes to the individual. In the second session, on 4 December, Shelley will ‘Tackle the Pet Owner’ and explore good and bad feeding practices, relating these to the hurdles we face in practice.
Together, with input from the Royal Canin scientific communications team, this webinar series will help you cover many aspects of the weight management process and relate the principles of weight loss to your clinical cases. Royal Canin’s Lee Danks MRCVS explained: “The main point we want delegates to take away from this series is the need to tailor weight loss programmes to each individual animal and owner. Each case is different, whether it’s the pet’s feeding behaviour, their metabolism or their owner’s willingness to comply with veterinary advice. "We’d encourage practices to engage in both sessions as tackling obesity relies heavily on compliance in all areas. Success can only be measured by a long-term change in feeding habits and lifestyle, to ensure sustained weight maintenance.”
Anyone interested in attending can register for the free webinars by visiting www.royalcanin.co.uk/tackling. The webinars are easy to join - all you need is a computer (with speakers) which is connected to the internet. CPD certificates will be made available online to those who attend these events.
